Self-Motivation

A vital key to success in implementing change in your life is the ability to stay self-motivated. This is an important skill for entrepreneurs as well as those who work within an organisation. The best employees are those who are proactive and motivated to preform well without being pushed externally.
Are you self-motivated?
Psychologist Scott Geller suggests there are three questions you should ask yourself to determine if you are self-motivated:
Can you do it?
Will it work?
Is it worth it?
If you believe you can do it, you have self-efficacy.
If you believe it will work, you have response efficacy which is the belief that the action you are taking will lead to the outcome you desire.
Finally, if you believe it is worth it, you have weighed the cost against the consequences and decided the consequences outweigh the cost.
(Geller 2016)
We will work better when we are self-motivated and more importantly we will be better able to cope with stress as we will be doing what we want to do.
Can we develop self-motivation as a skill?
